Pak’s former human rights minister says listening device was planted in her bedroom

Islamabad, July 19 (IANS): Senior PTI official and former Pakistani federal human rights minister Shireen Mazari claimed that a listening device had been placed in her room, local media reported.

This comes nearly a month after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) claimed that a servant working at former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence was surprised by the PTI chief’s security in installing a listening device in Imran Khan’s room.

Mazari said a suspicious device was found in her home. She claimed an American-made voice recording device was found on a table in my room, Samaa TV reported.

“I want to know who planted it in my room,” Mazari said.

I don’t know what information do they want from my room, she added, Samaa TV reported.

Earlier they tried to have me kidnapped, Mazari said, saying people associated with the PTI were being harassed.

If a reporter tries to speak out, an FIR is filed against the scribe, she said, adding that there are four cases against her.

It is a dangerous precedent that a listening device was installed in Mazari’s residence.

The senator said they did not know how many residences and offices of PTI leaders were bugged.
